There has been a lot of news about recent findings on the health benefits of maple syrup.

It has long been known that pure maple syrup is a natural source of zinc, thiamine and calcium. Recently though, it has been found that it also contains compounds that can help fight cancer and ironically, control diabetes. See the links on this page for more information.

While great on pancakes and waffles, maple syrup can be incorporated as a natural alternative to refined sugars to sweeten your foods.

After opening maple syrup it should be kept refrigerated or frozen if not used for long periods of time.  Maple syrup does not freeze solid because of the high sugar content, but becomes too thick to pour easily.

So there’s more than just the taste that makes pure maple syrup so sweet!
